I don't agree with Glenn on this one. I don't agree with Rand on everything, but he's solid on most things, and he's not as radical as his father is on defense. Read his defense platform here. Video there too.

Also, the nation will probably be passing some kind of health care reform, whether it's Obama's or someone else's. Rand Paul's background in medicine could be a huge asset to that debate. And Glenn, not all of the founding fathers believed the same thing. A few of the founders actually had feuds with each other. Alexander Hamilton practically favored a monarchy, for Pete's sake. Methinks your view of American history is too simplistic, Glenn. I tend to side with Mark Levin over you on some of these issues these days. For more on the founders, see my previous post here.

Another Day, Another Headache

'There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit.'

That's a phrase that's been playing over and over in my mind these days. I watch Romney and McCain flank Scott Brown, a man who ran on Palin rhetoric. I watch McCain use Palin to get reelected (no surprise, we all knew she would support him) and oh, what a shock, he's bringing in Brown too. What a pathetic, pathetic man. He knows we couldn't care less about him so he uses the young talent to get his sorry butt reelected. No matter. He's powerless now anyway.

Sarah's smart. She knows what she's doing. But that doesn't mean I like John McCain any more. Politico has a fairly fair piece on it here.

Sarah will be on Oprah this afternoon with Bristol. Should be interesting. I believe they might swing by Entertainment Tonight as well. Of course the press is criticizing it and every other move Palin makes or doesn't make, but what else is new? Palin is going to become much more mainstream as the year goes on. Tammy Bruce doesn't want Palin too get too familiar, but I think she will. As she does, she will broaden her appeal. She can either be a firecracker and have a few million people crazy about her, or she can calm her image down a little bit and have tens of millions okay with her. Then she's free to fight for the Presidency (if that's what she chooses to fight for) from there.

The March for Life is happening today too. Sarah said on Twitter that it's one of the things she will talk about on Oprah today. Sarah also reminds everyone to tune in to Glenn Beck today. It's his genocides special. Should be really good. Heh. Ironically, for me, it's on at the same time as the Oprah interview. Sorry, Glenn, I'm going to have to catch you at your rerun:)

What's going on in the Bristol/Levi custody battle? Pretty much what goes on in every custody battle, only with the media. Levi will be on the Insider sometime this week. Yay. Can't wait for that. I've actually calmed down a lot about this whole thing. It used to be that any mention of Levi's name churned my stomach. Okay, there's still a little rumbly in my tumbly about it, but for the most part, I've decided that a calm, rational approach is the best.

This week, a friend of Levi's sold some pics and a quick story to RadarOnline. He basically said that both Bristol and Levi were guilty of freaking out about nothing, they don't get along, and Sarah stays out of it for the most part. He also said that Sarah's a good person. Oh, so you don't like it when people sell you out to the media, huh? Well, now you know how it feels. I seem to recall a certain teenage girl talking to Star Magazine quite a bit. Wonder who that was? Hmmmmmmm.

Bristol and Levi are 19 year-old parents. This drama happens. They've just got the world watching.

Oh, please. Fox is as stupid as the other networks sometimes. They buy right into the narrative. First the meme was, "Palin can't name a newspaper she reads." Now it's, "Palin can't name a founding father she likes." Give me a flippin' break. I personally, don't have a favorite founding father. I like all of 'em. I don't have a favorite anything, not even a color. The focus on this says more about the people who aren't able to have more than one thought at a time than it does about Palin. No wonder her shields are up, she can never guess where the stupidity is going to come from.

I know a lot of people are saying that the Palin/Beck interview was her most relaxed interview, blah, blah, blah.... but I honestly thought that she was a little more guarded going into this one than she has been on a few others. Maybe it's just me.

Maybe it was the idea of meeting someone that you actually like and you don't want to ruin the like, I don't know. But that was just my impression. I think she got looser as the interview went on, but she waffled between guarded and unguarded.

You know, I didn't want to say anything, but when I saw Palin at the Wisconsin Right to Life... I don't know. Apparently, I'm the only one that felt that way because every other account was glowing - practically had her walking on water. I thought that maybe it was just because I had been up for a long time and was dog tired and out of my mind, but for me, it was as if all the star power and all the "punch" was stripped away - all I saw was a woman.

A woman who perhaps has been stabbed in the back so often she's afraid to let her guard down now. I didn't peg that at the time. At the time I was just struck by how absolutely normal she was. Average. She could have been anyone.

On the way home I sat in the car wondering how on earth it is that this person has come to be in this position. The only conclusion I could draw that night was that it wasn't her. I know this is going to sound incredibly tacky, but she's just a person; I think she was dead on when (if) she told Steve Schmidt that this whole thing was God's plan.

Maybe Sarah Palin is George Washington, then again, maybe not. Maybe (probably) Glenn is just a little overdramatic. Doesn't really matter. She's not really running this show anyway, I don't think. We'll just have to wait and see.

One thing's for sure - this woman is receiving Presidential-level criticism and has been for over a year now. You think that woman's not going to be ready for the Presidency? Think again.

Palin's Shields

I have to say, I never really thought of it that way before. Think of how many people that Sarah thought she could trust that have stabbed her in the back this past year. From the McCain aides, to Alaskans and old colleagues, to a person who was in her house and almost became a member of her family. No wonder the woman doesn't seem too thrilled with the idea of running for President. No wonder she is hesitant to hire any advisors other than those from the McCain campaign who have not betrayed her.

So Much for the Right-Wing Evangelical Extremist

I am laughing my butt off on this one - Palin to headline Wine and Spirits Convention.

Seriously. Loggers convention, bowling convention, and now the wine and spirits convention. Hardly conventional, no pun intended. LOL! Beverage World. Unbelieveable.

Contrast all of these with the Fox News analyst thing, and you get quite a picture. She's going outside of the Beltway, and yet poking her head into it to state her opinion on things via Fox News.

It would appear that right now her prime objective is to raise some money, which is perfectly understandable. If she's going to run for anything or support others who want to run for anything (or just provide for her family for the rest of her life) she's going to need it. The irony is that this has all been made possible because of the anklebiters that tried to make her go bankrupt. It reminds me of a video I watched soon after Palin resigned. I don't agree with every viewpoint in it, but it does address the irony:



The concern I have is that this might damage her outside-the-Beltway, just-like-us image. On the other hand, the sad reality is that money is power.

All I know is that I want this woman to run for President. All of these steps (some of which might make me nervous) I don't really care about so long as the road ends in the White House. I don't want her to sit on her laurels and just make money, though she has every right to do that and I wouldn't blame her if she did. I want that woman in the Oval Office.

Yes, I will support Sarah no matter what she does. But she was meant for things far greater than being a commentator on Fox News. As long as she uses these things as stepping stones and not a goal, I'm cool with it. If it's a goal, sorry, not cool with it. She's got more in her than that.

I'm not going to get a chance to see O'Reilly tonight, but one thing I am excited about - Sarah for a full hour on Glenn Beck tomorrow. That I will get to see. Glenn has got to be absolutely giddy. Giddy. He's only been waiting for this for a year and a half. I wouldn't be surprised if he kissed her shoes.

Only Sarah Palin Can Beat Barack Obama

We have to fight fire with fire. Nobody else can rival Obama for star power and grassroots committment. Obama is an unconventional politician; Sarah Palin is an unconventional politician. You're not going to pit a Romney against the Chicago Machine and get anywhere. You're sure not going to get anywhere with a Huckabee or a Pawlenty. Palin is the only real chance. Maybe she won't be able to pull it off either, but she's the only shot we've got.

Ever since she burst onto the scene in Dayton, Ohio, we have known that she is Obama's rival. The two worldviews of extreme leftism and the philosophies of our founding fathers collide in Obama and Palin. The political world will not be satisifed until these two go head to head and one comes out the final winner.

It's time to decide: will we stay by our founding principles, or abandon them once and for all?

That is the real decision. It was made in part in the election of 2008, although not completely because people didn't really know what they were getting into. By 2012, they will, and we can have the real showdown.

Anything short of that showdown will delay history. Obama vs. Palin - it needs to happen.

We all know this. We knew it on August 29, 2008. That's why the focus was all on Palin. Everybody forgot about John McCain. We all knew instinctively that this hockey mom was Obama's true nemesis. That's why the media and all the big-spending lefties threw all the weight they had into delaying that contest. "Must destroy Sarah Palin! Must not let her go up against The One!"

But they cannot hold back history forever. Something was set in motion in that gymnasium, and it will not be complete until years from now. We know this. We feel it in our inner core. The paradigm has shifted. Everything else is just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with that shift.
