Mark Levin to Conservatives on Libya - "Come on boys and girls, let's get our thinking straight"

Personally, I'm fine with us going in there and blowing up Mr. Creepy Face. But I hope we stick to doing it from the air. Enforce the no-fly zone, and that's it.

When Obama’s first term is over, what won’t the government control? They’ve already managed to get their grubby hands on the banks and the auto industry, now they want student loans and health care. It’s hard to imagine that this administration’s insatiable appetite for power will stop there.

Not content to merely run everything, Congress is now on the verge of mutilating the Constitution outright with the very aptly named “Slaughter Rule":

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States….

But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively.

In case you're unfamiliar, the Slaughter Rule is named after Louise "she wore her dead sister's dentures" Slaughter and it works like this:

The speaker brings a bill containing a list of changes that the House wants to make to the Senate bill to the floor for a vote. When the House members vote for and pass this list of changes to the Senate bill, the House will deem the Senate bill as passed as well, even though the Senate bill itself was never voted on to begin with.

If you don’t have the votes, just say that it passed anyway. How tyrannically convenient.

Mark Levin explains further:

If they go with this Slaughter Rule, we must act. Not with violence, but with the law. Someone must file suit. It must go to the Supreme Court. If that suit fails, the Constitution will no longer count for beans. It will be a useless piece of paper that nobody cares about anymore, and we will have tyranny.

In the meantime, we must continue to call, write, plead, and implore. Don’t just call those who are going to vote “yes,” call those who are going to vote “no.” Call the leadership of the opposition and encourage them to throw as many monkey wrenches into this thing as they possibly can.

This is no time to lie down. We stand on the brink of tyranny. Our republic is being stolen in broad daylight.

I don't agree with Glenn on this one. I don't agree with Rand on everything, but he's solid on most things, and he's not as radical as his father is on defense. Read his defense platform here. Video there too.

Also, the nation will probably be passing some kind of health care reform, whether it's Obama's or someone else's. Rand Paul's background in medicine could be a huge asset to that debate. And Glenn, not all of the founding fathers believed the same thing. A few of the founders actually had feuds with each other. Alexander Hamilton practically favored a monarchy, for Pete's sake. Methinks your view of American history is too simplistic, Glenn. I tend to side with Mark Levin over you on some of these issues these days. For more on the founders, see my previous post here.
