The Cannonization of George Tiller - UPDATED: Video Added

For the first time in years, America is more pro-life than it is pro-choice:

"Additionally, a recent national survey by the Pew Research Center recorded an eight percentage-point decline since last August in those saying abortion should be legal in all or most cases, from 54% to 46%. The percentage saying abortion should be legal in only a few or no cases increased from 41% to 44% over the same period.

Since last August.....hmmm...let's see, wasn't August when Sarah Palin burst onto the scene?


The pro-life issue is part of the reason the liberal establishment went absolutely ballistic on Sarah Palin. She is the antithesis of everything they have been trying to push for the last 40 years.

And surprise, surprise, she's been successful! People have started changing their minds, or seeing the life issue in a new light since America met Sarah Palin.

Rush Limbaugh hit the nail on the head early on.

To summarize, the lefties are desperate, for the first time in years they're losing, and then....

George Tiller was shot while ushering in his church on Sunday.

A chance to turn America pro-choice again!

We may now watch as George Tiller is turned into a martyr, a male Mother Theresa, and a virtual saint by the media in order to counteract the recent pro-life surge.

I wouldn't be surprised if they built a monument.

Sarah Palin issued a couple great statements that I'm sure helped mitigate the media somewhat, and this weekend she shot another one across the left's bow:

Shortly before noon, Palin's party was led to the National Women's Hall of Fame by Executive Director Christine Moulton....

At one point, Palin said she shared with Susan B. Anthony a desire for the protection of women. "For me, that includes our youngest sisters, girls in the womb," she said.

Hard to argue with that, though I'm sure they'll think of something.

In the meantime, let's bask in the glow of at least one blogger who has seen the light:

"I'm a 27 year old female who was always pro-choice but didn't believe that to be an important voting platform. I have to admit that I was never as political as I am now and can honestly say the only reason I ever got involved was due to Sarah Palin.

"Never before had I been exposed to a pro-life female on the national stage, which made an incredible impact on me.The minute that Sarah walked out onto the stage for the RNC speech in September I found myself leaping out of my seat and clapping at least five different times.

"There was something so captivating, authentic and genuine about this woman and how different she appeared when compared to the rest of the political elite. Right off the bat I felt like I could trust her and she epitomized what was missing in D.C.

"As I listened to her speeches and even attended another rally in Pennsylvania, I also felt my heart change and my stance on life. Because of how she was able to communicate what it actually means and because I could feel how powerful her words were due to the meaning they held for her, I couldn't help but change my mind.

"I now understand that the choice to end a life, if it were to happen to me, would be a completely selfish and heartless act due to an irresponsible decision I made. There is absolutely no reason that an innocent child should have to suffer because of a mistake I made.

What is it they say? "If just one life is changed...."

I mean, how could you not change? You would have to be made of metal to watch this and not be moved:

Five days after the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller, we have a little more insight into Katie Couric's true stripes:

"Katie Couric’s mother was an abortion activist for years and years. She does not like to point that out, but she goes out of her way to take up the cause.

"This morning on her syndicated radio “notebook”, Katie mourned the loss of George Tiller. She went through all the abortionists killed over the years. She implied that this was typical of “abortion opponents” and so many abortionists live in fear.

"Like Barack Obama, Katie has not used her notebook to talk about the islamofascist “peace activist” who gunned down American soldiers in Arkansas in an act of terror on Monday.

"Why? Because Katie can score points against the pro-life movement with the Tiller murder, but she undermines her own cause — opposition to the War on Terror — by talking about what happened in Arkansas."

Yes, Katie, all pro-lifers are evil people who go around killing those they disagree with for the fun of it. I mean, this statement put out by Sarah Palin is proof:

"I feel sorrow for the Tiller family. I respect the sanctity of life and the tragedy that took place today in Kansas clearly violates respect for life.

"This murder also damages the positive message of life, for the unborn, and for those living. Ask yourself, 'What will those who have not yet decided personally where they stand on this issue take away from today's event in Kansas?'

"Regardless of my strong objection to Dr. Tiller's abortion practices, violence is never an answer in advancing the pro-life message."

Evil peole, those pro-lifers; they must be stopped!

The way Couric talks you would think abortion doctors were dropping like flies. Perhaps Couric should focus her attention more on an actual threat, like, oh, I don't know, terrorism? (oops, forgot we can't say that word anymore!)

Good thing at least one person got it right:

"The stories of two very different lives with similar fates crossed through the media's hands yesterday - both equally important but one lacked the proper attention.

"The death of 67-year old George Tiller was unacceptable, but equally disgusting was another death that police believe was politically and religiously motivated as well. William Long died yesterday.

"The 23-year old Army Recruiter was gunned down by a fanatic; another fellow soldier was wounded in the ambush. The soldiers had just completed their basic training and were talking to potential recruits, just as my son, Track, once did.

"Whatever titles we give these murderers, both deserve our attention. Violence like that is no way to solve a political dispute nor a religious one. And the fanatics on all sides do great disservice when they confuse dissention with rage and death."

And now I take a step back to say this:

Murder is murder, and the assassination of George Tiller is inexcusable, and with the Gov, I feel sorrow for him and for his family.

But I feel more sorrow for the tens of millions who have had their skulls crushed and their brains sucked out while still in their mother's womb.

I feel more sorrow for the millions of children (mostly black and minorities) who have never been given the same chance to live that their parents had.

I feel more sorrow for the millions of babies with special needs whose precious lights were blown out before they had a chance to shine.

I feel more sorrow for the twisted mind of a journalist, whose priorities tell her to weep more over the death of a baby-killer, than to feel any emotion for the little children who died at his hand.

I feel more sorrow for my country, a land whose greatness was once tainted by the blood and sweat of slaves, and is now tainted by the cries of dying innocents, who cannot yet speak for themselves.

The words of a song my roommate used to sing come to mind:

"While we're sound asleep by philosophies,

That save the trees and kill the children....."

Reagan in a Dress

Michael Reagan was in Alaska this week. He gave a speech in Anchorage on what Ronald Reagan would do today. Governor Palin introduced him, and it was a bang-up introduction. She chewed the policies of the current administration up and spit them out!

As far as the rest of the story goes, you can troll around the internet news for the details. I personally feel that an encore of this piece by Michael Reagan is in order:

September 4, 2008 (after Palin's famous convention speech) -

"I've been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we'd never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he’s a she.

And what a she!

In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad's indomitable spirit and sent it soaring above the convention center, shooting shock waves through the cynical media's assigned spaces and electrifying the huge audience with the kind of inspiring rhetoric we haven't heard since my Dad left the scene.

This was Ronald Reagan at his best — the same Ronald Reagan who made the address known now solely as “The Speech," which during the Goldwater campaign set the tone and the agenda for the rebirth of the traditional conservative movement that later sent him to the White House for eight years and revived the moribund GOP.

Last night was an extraordinary event. Widely seen beforehand as a make-or-break effort — either an opportunity for Sarah Palin to show that she was the happy warrior that John McCain assured us she was, or a disaster that would dash McCain's presidential hopes and send her back to Alaska, sadder but wiser.

Obviously un-intimidated by either the savage onslaught to which the left-leaning media had subjected her, or the incredible challenge she faced — and oozing with confidence — she strode defiantly to the podium and proved she was everything and even more than John McCain told us.

Much has been made of the fact that she is a woman. What we saw last night, however, was something much more than a just a woman accomplishing something no Republican woman has ever achieved.

What we saw was a red-blooded American with that rare, God-given ability to rally her dispirited fellow Republicans and take up the daunting task of leading them — and all her fellow Americans — on a pilgrimage to that shining city on the hill my father envisioned as our nation's real destination.

In a few words she managed to rip the mask from the faces of her Democratic rivals and reveal them for what they are — a pair of old-fashioned liberals making promises that cannot be kept without bankrupting the nation and reducing most Americans to the status of mendicants begging for their daily bread at the feet of an all-powerful government.

Most important, by comparing her own stunning record of achievement with his, she showed Barack Obama for the sham that he is, a man without any solid accomplishments beyond conspicuous self-aggrandizement.

Like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin is one of us. She knows how most of us live because that's the way she lives. She shares our homespun values and our beliefs, and she glories in her status as a small-town woman who put her shoulder to the wheel and made life better for her neighbors.

Her astonishing rise up from the grass-roots, her total lack of self-importance, and her ordinary American values and modest lifestyle reveal her to be the kind of hard-working, optimistic, ordinary American who made this country the greatest, most powerful nation on the face of the earth.

As hard as you might try, you won't find that kind of plain-spoken, down-to-earth, self-reliant American in the upper ranks of the liberal-infested, elitist Democratic Party, or in the Obama campaign.

Sarah Palin didn't go to Harvard, or fiddle around in urban neighborhood leftist activism while engaging in opportunism within the ranks of one of the nation's most corrupt political machines, never challenging it and going along to get along, like Barack Obama.

Instead she took on the corrupt establishment in Alaska and beat it, rising to the governorship while bringing reforms to every level of government she served in on her way up the ladder.

Welcome back, Dad, even if you're wearing a dress and bearing children this time around."

The Backlash Begins: PUMA's for Palin

Those of us in Conservative circles know that the liberal democrats have been playing identity politics to get votes for years.

The liberal wing of the Democrat party doesn't actually care about diversity or women's rights; they care about power, and they've used people groups as pawns to get it.

We knew that. Many Democrats didn't.

They do now.

The vitriol that came from many so-called liberal mouths during the primaries and the general election of 2008 against Hillary Clinton and later against Sarah Palin confused and dumbfounded many Democrats who thought that their party actually cared about women.

They know now that it was never about women. It was about ideology.

The Democrat party doesn't care about blacks or Hispanics; they care about liberal blacks and Hispanics.

The Democrat party doesn't care about women; it cares about liberal women (and even a liberal woman's not good enough if that woman runs against Obama).

I didn't watch too many of the primary debates on the Democrat side, but I saw enough to know that (even though I disagree with her policies) Hillary Clinton wiped the floor with Barack Obama. The media did not give credit where it was due, and instead ignored Hillary and pumped up Barack.

Enter Sarah Palin.

Hillary was a thorn in the side of the media machine, a pain that they could remove with some degree of alacrity, but who was this, this "hockey mom" from the Last Frontier who seemed to energize the Republican Party and half the country overnight? She was smart, she was easy on the eyes, she was conservative, and she (gasp!) cared about women's issues?

This couldn't be happening!

Must....Destroy....Sarah....Palin!

The feeding frenzy was on full swing. Now, granted the McCain campaign facilitated it by putting Palin in a little bubble and only letting her out to play with Katie Couric (who's great idea was that?), but the media saw the crack in the door and first stuck one foot in, and then shoved their whole body through.

They saw red, they hated her guts, they succeeded in quashing some of her appeal with independent voters....

But in their frenzy, the media and the left wing of the Democrat party forgot one thing: their mask.

They forgot about the masquerade that they'd been putting on for their voters who weren't playing games and actually did care about things like women's rights.

They got so carried away with destroying first Hillary Clinton and then Sarah Palin, that they revealed themselves for who they really were. And their supporters were dumbfounded.

And now the backlash begins.

Now those (many now former) Democrats who really do care about women and women's rights are fighting back.

Blogs are popping up all over the internet shouting: PUMA's for Palin! Hillary supporters welcome!

Here's is some of what they're saying:

"This blog would have died a natural birth [death] at the time of HIllary’s speech of acclamation. But Sarah Palin changed all of that about four days later.

"NO, IT WAS NOT SARAH, IT WAS THE LEFT BLOGS that changed our mind.

"The vicious and despicable attacks on Sarah Palin kept this blog alive!

"Sarah has been subjected in one short blitzkrieg of character destruction attempted from every possible angle. Voters [who were] already incensed at the treatment Hillary received, and would have gone quietly away to lick their wounds and sulk, have instantly been galvanized. We identify with Sarah. One doesn’t need to be a woman, mother, moose burger eater or even have view on abortion, to be NOT infuriated with the media coverage and the left-wing treatment of a candidate for national office."

That was three weeks after Sarah was announced. This was today:

"I was deeply shocked and offended by the hateful, misogynistic trash that was spewed about Hillary Clinton. And I watched as the hate rolled right over onto Sarah Palin.

"I have lost so much respect for the DNC, the superdelegates, the dem establishment, the media, and all these bloggers that it feels like there is a black hole in my personal universe. The behaviors I have witnessed go beyond reprehensible. I doubt I will ever think of myself as a true lefty or Democrat again. "

This past election was tough on women's issues voters, but it was worth it.

It was proof of what many conservatives had been saying for years: the Democrat party has only been using women's issues to get votes and to promote the liberal ideology.

And it was an eye-opener for many Democrats who thought that their party was what it claimed to be.

The PUMA train has left the station, and it's gaining speed fast.

The mask is off; let the games begin.
